Gizem Erbas, a.k.a. Giz, started her acting career when she was 6, just to wear the princess costume. After years of doing scripted theater, she discovered the magical unscripted universe of improv in 2013. Since then, she lives everyday like she is on stage, ready to “YES, AND” every suggestion. You’ll find her illuminating the stage at any ImproNation shows, while spreading the joy of improv through courses and workshops. Her mission? To ensure that every soul in this universe experiences the sheer delight of hearty laughter.
David Kühling is an inexhaustible wellspring of energy, channeling his boundless enthusiasm into teaching, performing, and orchestrating shows as our artistic director.
His journey began in childhood, a tapestry woven with diverse activities like painting, sculpting, and strumming the guitar. Little did he know that his deepest passion would be ignited by scripted theater. Their relationship had its ups and downs, but the allure of crafting fictional worlds on stage always drew him back.
Everything changed around 2019 when he crossed paths with his improv alter ego, a dynamo of creativity. From that moment on, the rest is nothing short of improv history.
Wang Jia is the founder of the ImproNation. He discovered his passion for improv theater in 2016 after years of public speaking experience including appearing at TEDx. Improv has created some unforgettable moments for him: laughter, connection, impact… And he finds it incredibly exciting to bring joy and fulfillment into others’ lives. Wang is Chinese by origin, a chemical engineer by education, and now an improv player at heart.
Thom Roelofs’ theatre experience dates back to his first time playing in the school musical at the age of 12, continuing to the stage classes playing all the female roles in his high school to finally discovering and working with Impronation in 2019. After joining one special show on his birthday, he was hooked, and since then, Thom has performed, taught and worked with various Dutch and English groups throughout the Netherlands. Switching between crazy game-like formats to emotional and personal stories on the stage. All to help spark some creativity and joy and discover the delightful and playful inner child in all of us.
Our History
Impronation is an international improv theatre group that started as an idea by Wang Jia in 2020. Since then, with the help of various committed members, it has grown to be an international community for exploring and teaching improv-based theatre.
Through biweekly shows, multiple courses topics and weekly meetups, anyone is welcome to try improv for the first time or continue their improv journey. The community is in The Hague with close connections to neighbouring communities in Delft, Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
We, as Impronation, believe that improvisational theatre is an excellent way for us to be playful, laugh, accept and build upon each other's strengths. Learn more about your strengths, meet new people and have fun doing so. So should I take that first step? Yes, and we will be happy to welcome you and help you discover the improviser in you.
